Disinterment And Cemetery Relocation.

Authorized exhumation and remains relocation for cemetery consolidation, right-of-way acquisition, family transfer, and archaeological recovery. Petition procedure under ORC 517.23 and 517.24, chain of custody, container failure, commingled remains protocol, and NAGPRA notification requirements.

All field work in this program is performed under permit and under the supervision of a licensed funeral director. Unauthorized disinterment is a felony of the fourth degree under Ohio law.

Every day starts with the permit and the chain-of-custody sheet. The instructor said unauthorized disinterment is a fourth-degree felony so many times that I hear it in his voice on site. That is the point.
