The College does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its education programs and activities, as required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and its implementing regulations (34 CFR Part 106). This requirement extends to admission and to employment. Inquiries about the application of Title IX may be referred to the College’s Title IX Coordinator, to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education, or to both.

The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the College’s compliance with Title IX, including receipt of reports and complaints, oversight of supportive measures, and administration of the grievance procedure.

How to report

In an emergency, dial 911 first, then notify Campus Safety.

Sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking may be reported at any time, by any means, to any of the following, or to any combination of these, or to none:

• The Title IX Coordinator, in person, by telephone, by mail, or by email
• Department of Campus Safety, Room A-108B — ext. 2911 from any campus phone; (330) 555-0140 ext. 2911 from off campus
• Any College employee
• Anonymously, as described at Report a Concern. Anonymous reports limit the College’s ability to investigate or to provide supportive measures to a complainant.
• Tolliver Township Police Department or, at the Annex, the Tolliver County Sheriff’s Office
• Tolliver County Victim Assistance Program, (330) 555-0177 — confidential and independent of the College

A complainant is not required to report to law enforcement in order to receive supportive measures from the College.

Supportive measures

Supportive measures are available with or without a formal complaint and without regard to whether a report is made to law enforcement. Measures available include schedule and section changes, practicum reassignment, no-contact directives, and academic accommodation. Confidential counseling is available at no charge through the College’s counseling contract (Tuesday and Thursday, Room A-138).

Grievance procedure

Formal complaints are resolved under the Title IX Grievance Procedure (Policy 5.05), published in full at About › Policies with adoption and revision dates. The procedure describes the filing of a formal complaint, the availability of informal resolution where permitted, investigation, determination, and appeal. Investigation and determination are conducted by trained personnel, and the decision-maker is not the investigator.

Training materials

All materials used to train the Title IX Coordinator, investigators, decision-makers, and facilitators of informal resolution are available for public inspection at the Office of Human Resources, Room A-118, during business hours, as required by 34 CFR 106.45(b)(10).
