Accessibility

The College intends its website, its electronic materials, and its facilities to be usable by all students, employees, and visitors, including persons with disabilities. This page states the standard the College works to, the limitations it knows about, and how to request an alternate format or report a barrier.

Website standard

The College’s target for this website is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. New pages are reviewed against that standard before publication. The site does not use motion, and all functions are available by keyboard.

Known limitations

• PDF documents produced before 2020 are not consistently tagged for screen readers. They are remediated on request; see “Alternate formats” below.
• Some archival material, including scanned board minutes and catalog editions prior to 2014, is image-only and has not been remediated.
• Third-party systems used by the College — Canvas, DroverNet, and the library catalog — are covered by their vendors’ accessibility statements, which are available from the vendor.

Alternate formats

Any College publication, form, or document is provided in an alternate format — large print, electronic text, or braille through a cooperating service — on request to Disability Services, Room A-134, ext. 2144, at no charge. Requests are ordinarily fulfilled within five business days; braille requests may take longer.

Physical accessibility

The College provides accessible entrances, restrooms, parking, and routes at the Corliss Pike campus and the Aviation and Heavy Equipment Annex. Elevators serve all floors of the Corliss Pike building. Accessible route information is published on the campus map and is posted at building entrances. Known limitations:

• Barn Complex B: the arena viewing platform is reached by stair only. An accessible ground-level viewing position is available.
• Aviation and Heavy Equipment Annex: the equipment yard is unpaved in part.
• Mock Structure: non-compliant by instructional design. A student whose accommodation is affected completes the equivalent practicum at an alternate site arranged by the Division.

Accommodation in instruction, including in shop, barn, clinical, and field settings, is arranged through Disability Services, Room A-134, ext. 2144.

Section 504/ADA Coordinator

The College’s Section 504/ADA Coordinator is Bernadette Ollsvig, Room A-118, ext. 2240. A person who believes an accommodation was wrongly denied or improperly implemented, or who encounters a barrier this page does not describe, may file with the Coordinator; a determination is made within 20 business days. A complaint may also be filed with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights at any time; contact information is published with the Nondiscrimination Statement.
