Student records and FERPA
Student education records are maintained and released in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA, 20 U.S.C. § 1232g). Students have the right to inspect their education records, to request amendment of records they believe to be inaccurate, and to consent to most disclosures of personally identifiable information.
The College designates the following as directory information: name, program of study, enrollment status, dates of attendance, awards and honors, and participation in officially recognized activities. A student may opt out of directory-information disclosure by filing the opt-out form with the Registrar. The opt-out remains in effect until revoked in writing.
Student academic transcripts are retained permanently under the College’s records retention schedule. Records created prior to 1994 are held in the Registrar’s office in their original form and are produced on request; not all such records have been converted to electronic format.
