Equine and Asinine Husbandry
Associate of Applied Science · 60 credit hours · 4 semesters · Division of Animal and Agricultural Sciences

Breeding management, foaling, nutrition, hoof care, and stable operations for horses, donkeys, and mules. Assignment to the donkey string rotates at midterm; continuous assignment for the full term is no longer offered.
The program includes a required 240-hour field placement at a cooperating breeding operation, completed in the fourth semester as ANM 280. Students are responsible for transportation to placement sites. One current placement site is not accessible by public transit; the Division maintains a posted rideshare board in the hallway outside ANM 110.
Boots meeting ASTM F2413 are required from the first day of barn instruction. Compliant footwear is stocked by the Bookstore.

Graduates
The 240-hour placement is where you find out whether you actually want the four-thirty mornings. I did. The hoof-care sequence got me hired before the placement ended.
