Aftercare of companion animals for veterinary practices, animal hospitals, and pet cremation providers. Intake and identification, refrigerated holding, transport, individual and communal cremation procedure and the difference between them, processed remains handling, urn and keepsake selection, and paw print and fur clipping keepsakes.

Includes client communication: the conversation at the point of euthanasia, the language used to describe cremation options accurately, and the return of remains.

Instruction on identification procedure is extensive. A provider who cannot demonstrate individual identification through the entire process cannot honestly offer individual cremation, and this is the sole source of complaint in the sector.

Conducted in cooperation with a licensed provider. The College does not operate a crematory.

Facilities and instruction

Instruction is delivered in the facilities of the Division of Funerary and Interment Services. Additional photographs are collected at Campus photographs.
