Course Descriptions

Full course descriptions, including prerequisites and fees, are published in the Catalog of record and in DroverNet, where sections, meeting times, and instructors of record are listed for the current term. Selected coursework is listed in the program listings on this site; the Catalog governs.

Course descriptions do not constitute a guarantee that a course will be offered in any given term.

Course numbering

Courses are identified by a subject prefix and a three-digit number. Courses numbered 100 through 199 are first-year courses. Courses numbered 200 through 299 are second-year courses. The numbering does not include a 300 level; the College confers no award requiring coursework beyond the second year.

Prefixes designate the subject area and are assigned by the Curriculum Committee. A prefix belonging to a discontinued program is not reused. The prefixes TMP, AQS, and ECC are retired and are not reassigned.

Prerequisites are stated in the course description and are enforced at registration. Where a course requires documentation on file, such as immunization or safety acknowledgment, registration is not complete until the documentation is received. Contact hours and credit values are reproduced from the Catalog as approved; questions about a course’s contact-hour calculation should be directed to the Curriculum Committee through the Office of the Registrar.

Credit and clock hours

The College measures instruction in semester credit hours. One semester credit hour represents fifteen contact hours of lecture, thirty contact hours of laboratory, or forty-five contact hours of supervised clinical, field, or shop practicum.

Certain short-term programs are measured in clock hours and do not carry credit. Clock-hour programs are not eligible for transfer, and their instruction is not assigned course numbers.

Printed copies of the Catalog, including all course descriptions, are available for review in the Office of the Registrar (Room A-112) and in the Library reading room during posted hours.

Responsible office: Office of the Registrar, Room A-112, ext. 2250. Course inventory is maintained by the Curriculum Committee; minutes are posted after approval.
