Enclosure Fabrication for Large Nonstandard Specimens

Structural fabrication of containment and habitat enclosures where specimen dimensions, mass, or behavior exceed the rated capacity of commercially available systems. Load calculation under dynamic impact, weld inspection, gate and airlock design, and sight-barrier integration.
WELD 120 or documented equivalent is required for admission. The fabrication sequence is cross-listed with the Division of Building, Structures and Site Services. Consumables are billed at cost above the amount published in the Schedule of Charges. Students are not required to be informed of the intended occupant prior to beginning a fabrication project, and the program does not maintain records of post-delivery placement.

Graduates
Load under impact is the difference between a fence and a containment. WELD 240 taught me to inspect my own welds before anyone asks, which is why the shop hired me.
