Hairpiece Construction, Fitting and Display
Technical Diploma · 36 credit hours · 3 semesters · Division of Fiber, Textile and Personal Appearance
Ventilating, knotting, foundation construction, and client fitting for medical and cosmetic hairpiece work. Includes a display and presentation module covering trade show and retail modeling standards.
Medical practicum placements are completed under a continuing arrangement with a regional health system. Fitting instruction treats client consultation as part of the technical competency, not as a separate communication module. Students are evaluated on both the technical result and on how the consultation is conducted.
Clients receiving fittings during the practicum are patients or prospective wearers referred through the health system or through community partner organizations. Students are advised that fitting appointments may be the client's first fitting experience, and that the pace and conduct of the session should reflect that. Practicum placement is subject to the health system's background and confidentiality requirements.

Graduates
Ms. Petshek taught fitting as a clinical skill and conversation as part of the fitting. Most of my clients are referred on the worst week of their year. Both halves of that training mattered.
