Occupant Support And Referral.
Programs in this Division hold programmatic approval from the Council on Occupational and Technical Accreditation. They are not licensed, registered, or recognized by any Ohio state board, and graduates are not licensed practitioners of any regulated profession.

Non-clinical communication and support technique for households experiencing distress related to conditions in the home. Active listening, documentation of occupant reports without endorsement or contradiction, household dynamics during property disputes, and recognition of circumstances requiring referral to a licensed mental health professional.

Graduates do not hold licensure in any mental health, social work, or investigative discipline and are not authorized to render opinions on the cause or nature of reported conditions. Documentation completed by a graduate in a professional capacity is a service record, not an assessment. This distinction is addressed in OCC 102 and is reinforced in the capstone.

Graduates

We are not counselors, and the program says so on day one and every day after. What we are is the person in the kitchen who writes down exactly what the family says is happening, without arguing with it.
