This program is measured in clock hours, does not carry credit, and is not eligible for transfer.

Preparation and mounting of game birds, small mammals, and fish. Skinning, fleshing, and degreasing; tanning; form selection and alteration; hide-to-form fitting; sewing; setting of eyes and ears; and finishing, including airbrush work on fish and waterfowl.

Includes the record-keeping required under Ohio Division of Wildlife rules, which is more extensive than students anticipate, and a unit on the conditions under which a mount deteriorates: hide slippage, insect activity, ultraviolet exposure, and failure of neck stitching. Students prepare a written condition assessment as part of the final.

Specimens are supplied by students or by the College's cooperating agreements. The College does not accept specimens from the public for instructional use.

Facilities and instruction

Instruction is delivered in the facilities of the Division of Fiber, Textile and Personal Appearance. Additional photographs are collected at Campus photographs.
