Toll Crossing Administration

Administration of privately held bridges, causeways, and ferry crossings. Toll collection and reconciliation, exemption verification, rate schedule filing and posting with the applicable county or municipal authority, crossing log maintenance, and load restriction enforcement.
The program covers permissible grounds for refusal of passage and the contemporaneous documentation required to sustain a refusal on appeal. BSS 255 addresses the specific obligations of a crossing operator when a refused party contests the decision in writing; a response timeline of fourteen days is established by Ohio common carrier precedent and is not discretionary.
Guest instruction in BSS 255 is provided by an attorney with relevant practice experience. The guest instructor changes periodically; course materials from prior terms are not controlling on current legal questions.
