Raber is a first-year student in Equine and Asinine Husbandry. He grew up on a diversified farm in the Sugarcreek area and participated in 4-H livestock projects as well as the Tuscarawas County 4-H shooting sports program. He is the only athlete on the roster who competes exclusively in sporting clays, which he has stated he prefers for its varied station formats.
