Services Open to the Public

The services below are provided by instructional programs as part of their curricula. All services are performed by students under the supervision of licensed or credentialed faculty. Charges, where any apply, are posted in the schedule of charges at tuition and fees.

Cosmetology Clinic

Wing C. Haircuts, styling, comb-out, and chemical services at posted student-clinic rates. All services performed by students under licensed supervision. Appointments: ext. 2514.

The Clinic additionally provides services at no charge at the Tolliver County Senior Center on the first Wednesday of each month and, by referral arrangement with a regional health system, to oncology patients fitted through the hairpiece program. Demand for the Senior Center visits has remained consistent since the arrangement began; the first Wednesday has not been missed.

Home Assessment Program

Residents with urgent life-safety concerns — fuel odor, carbon monoxide alarm, electrical burning smell — should contact their utility or 911 and not this program.

Wing F. Students in APS 220 and APS 280 conduct no-cost residential assessments for county homeowners reporting persistent unexplained conditions in the home. Assessments follow the Division’s standard protocol: intake interview, environmental baseline, differential diagnosis, and a written findings letter.

The program completed 41 assessments in 2024–25. Of these, 38 identified a conventional cause and included referral to an appropriate licensed contractor; 2 resulted in an occupant-support referral; 1 was closed undetermined. Assessment requests are made through the Division office in Wing F. The waiting list is currently approximately four months.

Monument Cleaning Days

The Cemetery Grounds and Monument Services program conducts cleaning and resetting workdays at neglected and historic cemeteries in the county, in cooperation with township trustees and the county historical society. Nine workdays were completed in 2024–25, including the completion of a three-year project at the Old Salem Burying Ground (est. 1817). The Old Salem project involved 47 individual markers; full identification was not possible for 11 of them. Townships may request a workday through the Division office. Work is limited to cleaning, leveling, and resetting; no work is performed on monuments under active memorial contract.

Indigent Interment Support

Under agreement with the Tolliver County Department of Job and Family Services, the Funerary Services program provides preparation and graveside service support for county indigent burials, under the supervision of licensed faculty. The College does not charge for this work. Fourteen services were supported in 2024–25. The program is conducted with the same standards of care as all instruction in the Division.

Hospital and Facility Visitation

Students in the Applied Clowning program’s clinical rotation visit two regional children’s hospitals and four long-term care facilities under the supervision of Professor Casp. Visitation follows the standards of the Association of Hospital Clown Programs. Character concentration students complete a separate preparation sequence before facility placement.

Community Performances

The Early Music Consort and the Reenactment Company perform at no charge for schools, libraries, and historical society events, as scheduling permits. Requests: Division of Performance and Guest Services, ext. 2810.
