SkillsUSA Bellweather

SkillsUSA Bellweather is the College’s chapter of SkillsUSA, the career and technical student organization. Members compete in regional and state contests in their occupational areas. Contest eligibility follows SkillsUSA rules; travel is funded through the activity fee allocation and chapter fundraising.
History
- Chartered in 1979 as a VICA chapter; the organization’s present name dates from 1999.
- Three members advanced to the state contest in 2026, in welding sculpture, job interview, and commercial baking. Results are posted by the chapter in DroverNet.
- The fall pancake breakfast is cooked on griddles fabricated by the welding sections and inspected before use. The 2019 griddle remains in service and is stored with the shop fixtures.

Officer lists are filed with the September recognition renewal; the roster below is as filed with the Office of the Dean of Students.
- Tanner Roupe — President
- Welding and Fabrication. Competed in welding sculpture at the 2026 state contest. The entry is displayed in the Shop Building until the next contest cycle.
- Bettina Schrock — Treasurer
- Sandwich Production and Line Operations. Advanced to state in commercial baking. Manages the pancake breakfast; the batter is hers and the griddles are the shop’s.
- Dwight Most — Secretary
- Jobsite Material Security. Keeps the chapter’s contest documentation to SkillsUSA standard. Contest results are posted within one business day.
