Student Government Association

The Student Government Association is the recognized student governance body of the College. Officers are elected each April by the enrolled student body. The Association allocates activity fee funding through its finance committee, appoints student representatives to College committees where a seat is provided, and communicates student concerns to the administration through resolution.
Meetings are open to enrolled students. Agendas are posted in DroverNet the week before. Minutes are approved at the following meeting and are available from the Association’s office, Room A-136A.
History
- Organized in 1963 as the Student Council of the Bellweather Vocational Institute; the present name was adopted in 1989, following the reorganization of the College.
- The Association has hosted the Fall Kickoff since 1996 and has organized the Luminary Walk since 1997.
- Resolutions of the Association are advisory. The College responds to each resolution in writing; response times vary.
Officers, 2026–27
Officer lists are filed with the September recognition renewal; the roster below is as filed with the Office of the Dean of Students.
- Marcy Holdren — President
- Second-year student, Insurance Fraud Investigation. Elected on a turnout of 291 ballots. She is the second president to carry the pending response to Resolution 2025-02 forward, and keeps the Association’s correspondence file personally.
- Dale Yutzy — Vice President
- Second-year student, Accessory Structure Consultation. Chairs the finance committee. The committee’s allocation worksheet is his own design and has been adopted as the standard form for future cycles.
- Renata Cwik — Secretary
- Plasma and Blood Center Operations. Takes minutes longhand and transcribes them for posting. The longhand originals are retained.
- Gordon Slabaugh — Treasurer
- Casino Table Operations. Reconciles the activity fee ledger weekly. His program coursework in payout calculation and reconciliation is noted in his officer profile at his request.
Events
- Fall Kickoff — Pasture 5, Friday of the first week of the fall term.
- The Luminary Walk — Perimeter Course, evening of the last day of fall instruction.
- Officer elections — April, by ballot in DroverNet.
Resolutions of record
Resolutions are advisory and are transmitted to the responding office or to the Board of Trustees as their subject requires. The College’s written response is filed with the resolution.
