Franklin R. Bede has been at the College since 2019. He holds an A.A.S. in HVAC Technology from Stark State College. Prior to joining the faculty, he operated Bede Heating & Diagnostics in Bellweather for 22 years as sole proprietor, with work focused on building performance contracting, blower door testing, and combustion diagnostics. He was named Acting Program Coordinator in 2024.

Mr. Bede teaches APS 145, Environmental Baseline and Instrumentation, and APS 220, Differential Diagnosis. APS 220 covers systematic elimination of mechanical, structural, and environmental causes in the sequence required before a property can be referred for further review. He also covers APS 110, Intake and Occupancy History, during Professor Culliton's leave.

He holds current certification as a BPI Building Analyst. His instruction draws on documented case files from his contracting practice, with emphasis on building combustion appliances, pressure boundary deficiencies, and moisture sources as first-order explanations in any diagnostic sequence.
