Ruthann Cossey has been a Professor in the Division of Funerary and Interment Services since 2005. She holds an A.A.S. in Mortuary Science from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and a B.A. in Studio Art from Seton Hill University. Her Ohio licensure is on file as Funeral Director #FD-9104 and Embalmer #EM-6620, both current.
Professor Cossey teaches FUN 150 (Embalming I) and FUN 230 (Restorative Art). Her instruction in restorative art addresses the anatomical and surface reconstruction techniques used following trauma, surgical intervention, or extended postmortem intervals, with attention to documentation standards and pre-service communication with arranging staff.
She is a member of the American Society of Embalmers. Her undergraduate background in studio art informs her approach to the color-matching and surface-blending components of the restorative art curriculum, which she teaches in the Wing E Preparation Laboratory.
