Performs with two regional early music ensembles

Alonzo Deuff joined the Division in 2015. He holds a D.M.A. and M.M. in Historical Performance from Case Western Reserve University and a B.M. from Oberlin Conservatory.

He teaches Applied Lute I (MUS 130) and Applied Lute II: Performance Conditions (MUS 210). Instruction covers tablature reading, right- and left-hand technique appropriate to period repertoire, and the acoustic and staging considerations that bear on early music performance in non-concert settings.

Dr. Deuff performs with two regional early music ensembles and maintains the Division's four loaner instruments, including scheduling regular inspection and minor repairs to keep the instruments in serviceable condition for student use.

He directs the Tuesday evening handbell ensemble, an assignment he assumed on arrival.
