Barrett Osgoode, M.A.

Barrett Osgoode has served as Instructor in Disinterment and Cemetery Relocation since 2014. He holds an M.A. and B.A. in Anthropology from Kent State University. Prior to joining the College, he was a field director at Ashwill Cultural Resource Management from 2003 to 2014, where his project work included ODOT right-of-way cemetery relocations in five Ohio counties. He has also provided NAGPRA compliance consulting.

Mr. Osgoode teaches DIS 120 (Disinterment Law and Petition Procedure) and DIS 210 (Field Methods and Remains Recovery). DIS 120 addresses Ohio disinterment permit requirements, cemetery relocation petitions, and the statutory roles of the health commissioner, next of kin, and cemetery authority. DIS 210 covers excavation technique, remains identification, and chain-of-custody documentation from field recovery through reinterment.

He is a member of the Register of Professional Archaeologists. His field background in regulated cemetery relocation projects provides the basis for the case documentation exercises used throughout both courses.
