Vernon Tilgh has been a Professor in the Division of Building, Structures and Site Services since 2007. Before joining the College he served as the building official for Tolliver Township from 1994 to 2007, and before that worked as a carpenter from 1981 to 1994.

He teaches AST 110 (Residential Code Fundamentals), AST 190 (Foundations and Anchoring), and AST 230 (Consultation Practicum). The sequence addresses setback requirements, zoning compliance, footing specifications, and the inspection process for accessory structures under the Ohio Residential Code.

He holds Ohio certifications as Certified Building Official, Residential Building Inspector, and Residential Plans Examiner, each maintained through the applicable continuing education requirements. AST 230 is conducted as a practicum in which students assist with consultations on residential accessory structure projects.
